I love the olive oil tortas made by Ines Rosales and also their beautiful packaging. They’re always gone too fast, leaving wasteful guilt-ridden packaging. Here I’ve recycled the wax paper wrapping into an art object by making a surrogate torta out of candle wax and using the plastic clam shell inside the original packaging as a mold for the wax. The shape is different but the shine and flakiness of the wax sculpture and the color spottiness of the wax evoke an edible object. My torta is tantalizing and forever. :)
