Monuments was a series of design driven, site-specific performances across the UMass campus inspired by COVID safety regulations which pushed theater makers outside of the familiar performance spaces into a world of new opportunities outdoors. Spurred by the controversy around the toppling of monuments in the U.S., Monuments of the Future were ephemeral performer-embodied creatures that include TRUTH, CONNECTION, REMEMBRANCE, LOSS, INNOVATION, SACRIFICE, DEFIANCE, and the IMPULSE TO DESTROY, all in dialogue with Death.
