The One Flea Spare Project happened remotely during the Covid pandemic. In 2020-21 Professor Klepikov’s Graduate (Group Studio) and Undergraduate (Intro to Scenic Design) courses at UMass Amherst participated in THE ONE FLEA SPARE PROJECT: PLAYS, PANDEMICS, & PARTNERSHIPS, a multi-disciplinary, inter-university, community theatrical endeavor led by designer Clint Ramos and organized around Naomi Wallace’s “One Flea Spare” to provide students at these different schools with a sense of community during the isolation of the pandemic. Participating schools included Fordham, Princeton, Georgetown Universities, and SUNY Purchase and offered courses that included “One Flea Spare” in their curriculum. Students could virtually attend open classes and other specially co-organized events. Below are examples from various stages of the design process created by Prof. Klepikov’s BA and MFA students at UMass Amherst.
